Cruise ships visiting Bangkok sometimes dock at Klong Toey and sometimes at Laem Chabang, depending on the size of the ship.

Klong Toey Port is in the Chao Phraya River and lands you right in the heart of Bangkok city. Only the smaller cruise ships can navigate this far up the river.

Laem Chabang Port is the main container terminal and is located in Chonburi Province about two hours SouthEast of Bangkok. This is the normal port for the larger cruise ships.

For those wanting to visit the Grand Palace please note the following:

A strict dress code applies at the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha as it is Thailand's most sacred site. Visitors must be properly dressed before being allowed entry to the temple. Men must wear long pants covering their ankles and shirts with sleeves. No tank tops or singlets. Women must be similarly modestly dressed. No see-through clothes or bare shoulders. Shawls or wraps are no sufficient. T-shirts are a good choice. No shorts or tights. Proper shoes must be worn. No flip flops.
